Should we be anticipating a newgroup server change sometime in the near
future?

Should we be anticipating newgroup name changes ("borland.etc" to
"<something>.etc")?

The "CodeGear" newsgroups are currently being hosted against the
"Borland.com" domain name...

You can switch your settings to use newsgroups.codegear.com if you
like, but it's the same server.

FYI, here's a quote from CodeGear's newsgroup administrator:

"As of right now, our servers are called newsgroups.borland.com ... and
I can make zero guarantees about anything resolving properly if somebody
deviates from that."

I'd say don't change anything for now.

OT; Incidentally, I think you just hit on a new slogan for the RAD Studio
product line. CodeGear RAD Studio: Zero guarantees!

Or maybe "zero guarantees or your money back". <g>

How long ago? That sounds like the state of things before the
Embarcadero deal. The IT team has been transitioning everything to
codegear.com since then. I can double check with Fraz, but I was told
that we're in complete control of the codegear DNS a few days ago.

Originally on 5/8, just after the deal. He confirmed yesterday that I
could quote him.

I don't think he's trying to imply that it will remain as borland.com
for any long term period. Just that it's still up in the air what it
will change to.

It does seem obvious that it won't be .borland.com forever, but trying
to guess what it will change to is a fool's errand.

Maybe it will be forums.codegear.com, maybe it will be
news.codegear.com, maybe it will be news.cg.embarcadero.com, maybe (God
forbid) it will be some web-only forum, ... We could speculate all day,
but that's all it is -- speculation.

I do feel confident that if something changes, it won't just silently
change overnight. You'll hear about it. My recommendation is change
your settings if someone tells you what to change them to. Otherwise,
sit tight and keep your ear to the ground.
